About the Author
Klaus Pohl holds a full professorship for Software Systems Engineering at the Institute for Computer Science and Business Information Systems (ICB) at University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany and an adjunct-professorship at the University of Limerick, Ireland. From 2005 to 2007 he acted as the funding scientific director of Lero, the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre. He received his Ph.D. and his habilitation in computer science from RWTH Aachen, Germany.Pohl is author/coauthor of more than 250 peer-reviewed publications as well as several textbooks. As a consultant, assessor, and expert, he supports reputable companies, research institutions, and public funded research programs.

The "fundamentals" part in its title is totally true, it covers the foundation level of requirements engineering, no less, no more. Though there are plenty of topics and concepts in this book, I think it does not go deep into any of them, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I rate this book with 4 stars because it was all I had to study to pass the CPRE FL exam, so it served its purpose. However, it's not the book I'd recommend to someone who was looking for a practice guide or learn more about RE than the average people in the industry. All the examples in the book, including the UML diagrams, are for dummies, that's annoying.
