Painful

I've got a lot of experience in the IT industry and went back to school to finish my degree. While you never know what to expect from a class before it starts, the worst part about the class is using this book.
The book is in dire need of an editor, there are spelling and grammar errors throughout. The book is difficult to read and the included exams will substitute IT for Internet and vice versa. So the book with say that such-and-such is a feature of IT and the correct answer in the exam will have that feature being listed as a part of the internet.
If the worst thing was that the book was hard to read and had errors that any editor would have caught, I wouldn't be complaining. The worst part though, beyond the exam errors are the factual errors. For instance, in a case example about Microsoft, the text reads "To adopt innovation, the company has often succeeded in using its financial might to acquire successful leaders (e.g. Lotus Development Corp. for office automation and Netscape Communications Corp. for Web browsers)." No, IBM bought Lotus and AOL bought Netscape. Do the authors not remember the browser war?
If you have a choice between a class that uses this book and one that doesn't, pick the one that doesn't.

Throwing away good money

I purchased this book because it was an assigned textbook in an IT management class I took. The professor indicated that she selected it based on the advice of others, but admitted after classes began that she would not be using it again. Before continuing, I should point out that I don't have an IT background, nor am I pursuing an IT degree. The class for which this book was assigned was an introductory course. People with broader backgrounds in IT might get more out of this than I did.
I confess I didn't read the entire book. This was due to the fact that I found the first 100 pages to be more or less incomprehensible. It's as though the authors wrote down everything they could think of without bothering to organize it, filter it, or consider whether it was relevant or sensible.
A good portion of this book is filled with summaries of other people's ideas (I know that because many of the paragraphs begin with "So-and-so says...") and a ton of cited business graphics that contain a whole lot of lines, boxes, arrows, and circles, but convey very little readily meaningful information. I'll bet if I drew a chart that plotted the relationship between bacon prices, CPU speed, and corresponding possibility of global conquest by the color orange, the authors would jump at the opportunity to include it in the next edition. At one point, the authors attempt to compare the various stages of technology adoption to a camel. I see, so technology adoption = a camel?
Save yourself some misery and avoid this book. I just wish I could give it negative stars.

Poor

This book is poorly written. I am sure the writers did their best to write this; however, it is a bunch of information thrown together unorganized. The graphs didn't make sense sometimes. There were definitions towards the end of chapters that should have been in the very beginning to help read the rest of the chapter.
I was skeptical about the negative reviews, but they are right. I can't believe this book is as much as it is. The book is also old (2009). Although a lot of business concepts stay the same, technology changes quick.
I don't know how any instructor can use this book in a PhD or a Bachelors setting.
Don't buy, (or read), unless you have to.
