Dear world, it doesn't get cuter.

I'm a little biased since I am infatuated with Liz Climo's work, but this book was everything I thought it would be and then some. I'm going to love reading and rereading it when I'm feeling calm, happy, overwhelmed, bored, stressed, whenever, and I'll definitely be getting it for potato friends to read to their tots. Climo has this amazing way of showing so much expression and feeling through beady little eyeballs and puffy cuddly renditions of animals. Rory's dad makes Rory's expedition seamlessly safe, with Rory none the wiser, but dad's love and efforts to care for his little one are clearly shown to the onlooker.

I almost want a little one from this book alone. Almost. Maybe I'll settle for a stuffed dinosaur.

Very cute!

This is probably one of the best family-bonding picture books I’ve read this year. I like how, even though Rory is going on an adventure, he still “listens” to his dad (Rory “isn’t allowed to swim without his dad.”) and follows his rules. Rory is a good kid. The illustrations include some humor for adults/older readers (like the titles on the books Rory’s dad reads – “Roar and Peace” :) ) The book is a great story about parents watching our for their kids but still letting them have an adventure. All in all, it’s a great mixture of fun for everyone.

All About Dad's Being There For Their Kids!

My baby nephew is named Rory and this made the perfect gift for my brother in law. It's a sweet story about a baby dinosaur named Rory who doesn't want to disturb his busy dad, so he decides to go out on an adventure alone. Rory's dad sees Rory heading out and decides to follow him but stay out of sight. Whenever Rory runs into trouble, his dad helps him and Rory thinks he does it all on his own. After a short adventure, Rory decides the best adventures are with his dad and rushes home to tell him all about it.

Made my heart melt. Such a great story for any dad!

Instead, he found that Stark was on the verge of controlling the very fabric of reality itself.

Cory was unsure of Stark's ultimate goal, until he began to recall pieces of another life and found himself in the middle of a battle between two groups of people who could use "rabbit holes" in space and time to jump between different realities, personalities, and lives. Whoever had control of the power to shape reality would have the power to become a god--or a devil. But before Cory could combat Stark and his minions, he first had to remember which side he was on....

First get a good grip on Reality

Jack L. Chalker's theory of existence was spelled out in Book I, P. 223: "... Sometime, somebody, in a world we otherwise know nothing about but which has to be far more advanced than the one we now knew, built a vast computer for some reason and put tremendous knowledge and capability into it. Something went wrong, or so it seemed. A group, a small group, of people from that original place, that true universe, had come into the system and gotten lost, then trapped, in an ever-increasing series of exquisitely detailed virtual universes.. [Brand] was the only hope of getting everybody together again and back to reality. ..."
Chalker wrote, "All reality is programming. We cannot know the real: we are trapped in an endless series of simulations, all of us, and some, like myself, in simulations within simulations. ...." He uses an IT, a thing, a faceless one or a gray ancient to speak these lines, rather than a flesh and blood character. This device implied a para-programmer, one outside the mind of man. This invented God is in control not only of the author outside the story's pages but in control of all the characters within the pages of the book.
Reality now has a counterpart, virtual reality. The characters, en mass, stare into the mirror of their own minds and realize that they had no measuring rod with which to gauge their own realities. The mind is self reflective. The mind has no outer objective way to measure either its input or output. The characters reveal the dead end of human thought. The fact that the tactile nerves register solidity reveals little regarding production or projection of such solidity. There is no way to distinguish whether the neurons fire due to sensory input rather than from say drugs or computer generated inputs. Reality, thus loses its previous foundation.
Chalker posits an Existence Computer with limitless memory able to fill in a separate reality for each and every mind. Everyone gets their own set of individual mental constructs. With this god-like computer unlimited universes to surround each person's set of ideas could be created. (P. 211 BK II). Taking this idea one step further, each person is a circuit on the mother board of the universe. Every solid item that surrounds a person is created within another little circuit. The whole universe is the giant circuitry, the mother board of existence. We are all but chips, powered from this hidden source of energy that we call existence. Chalker names his god character Matthew Brand. Brand understands the circuitry and power of the Existence Computer enough to become part of it. Brand was able to join with the energy reactor in order to control the energy flow into the mother board of the Existence Computer.

One of the best cyberspace series yet!

Jack Chalker continues his tradition of unique ideas and perspectives in the Wonderland series. What starts out as a classic cyberspace story quickly turns in unexpected directions. This book will definitely get you thinking about the true nature of reality. If you liked the movie, "The Matrix," get this book! The movie stole Chalker's ideas without giving credit, and the book explores the ideas to a greater depth. Too bad Del Rey is so short-sighted and has not reprinted the 3rd book in this series.

I Guarantee You Will Love This Book

If you are naturally curious, like interesting plot twists and rich environments, then you are going to love this book.

I tend to agree with other reviewers that this work is the inspiration for the movie "The Matrix" and in many ways is a superior work. The ideas in Chalker's work are much more developed than in The Matrix and does a much better job of keeping it's integrity throughout.

About the Author
Wendy Ashmore is Professor of Anthropology at the University of California, Riverside. Her research centers on settlement patterns, household archaeology, gender, and ancient space and place in southeastern Mesoamerica. Publications include Settlement Archaeology at Quirigu�, Guatemala (University of Pennsylvania Museum, 2007), and edited volumes on Lowland Maya Settlement Patterns (New Mexico, 1981), Household and Community in the Mesoamerican Past (with R. R. Wilk, New Mexico, 1988), Archaeologies of Landscape: Contemporary Approaches (with A. B. Knapp, Blackwell, 1999), and Integrating the Diversity of 21st-Century Anthropology: The Life and Intellectual Legacies of Susan Kent (with M.-A. Dobres, S. M. Nelson, and A. Rosen, American Anthropological Association, 2006), together with numerous articles and book chapters on these and related topics.

Robert J. Sharer is Shoemaker Professor in Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania and Curator of the American Section at the University of Pennsylvania Museum. He has published over 100 scholarly articles, and several monographs reporting the results of his archaeological research, including a three-volume Chalchuapa report (1978), and a one-volume Verapaz report (1987). He is general editor of the Quirigua Reports, with four volumes published (1979, 1983, 1993, and 2007), and general editor of the forthcoming Early Classic Copan Acropolis Reports. He has co-edited five books, including Regional Perspectives on the Olmec (1989) and Understanding Early Classic Cop�n (2004), and is the author of Quirigua: A Classic Maya Center and Its Sculpture (1990), Everyday Life in Maya Civilization (1996), and three editions of The Ancient Maya, the most recent a completely revised work in collaboration with Loa P. Traxler.

This was a VERY informative and informational introduction to archaeology. It is DEFINITELY for a college level, so be ready for some very involved reading and vernacular, but other than that, great! Everything you want to know about the technical aspects of the field are in here. Really good photographs and models to help further understanding.

About the Author
Dr. Wiebers is Emeritus Professor of Neurology at one of the leading medical centers in the world. A revolutionary book for our time and beyond

This book is unlike anything that has come before it. Reading it was a life-changing experience for me. It confirmed what I already intuitively knew, but gave me better access to a higher level of understanding of my deeper self, my life's journey and how I fit into the universe. The scientific concepts are profound, yet I could readily understand them as a nonscientist. The book is destined to become a classic that is translated into many languages and recognized throughout the world.

The first half of this book provides compelling new evidence that shows that you can exist and function separately without your brain; that the you beyond your brain is indestructible, even by physical death; and that the brain and body are simply temporary vehicles for use on this physical plane rather than a person's core identity. Deeply understanding these concepts is fundamental to virtually any form of what has been called spiritual enlightenment, and this book provides the means for such deep understanding unlike any other book that I have ever read before.

The second half of the book provides a host of everyday applications of the new scientific knowledge which can be easily incorporated into anyone's daily life. These are profound insights which allow anyone to look inward to find their own answers to profound and not so profound questions. Methods range from esoteric metaphysical techniques to relatively simple approaches based on twelve key factors.

Live a More Enlightened Life Even When Facing Death

Nearly 30 years ago when I was practicing law my doctor diagnosed me with a then almost certain terminal disease. I was devastated. Seeking some measure of consolation, I read a book about the five stages of grief which people go through when facing death. It gave me no comfort. I then stumbled upon Dr. Raymond Moody's "Life After Life" which detailed NDEs by some of his patients which gave me a great deal of emotional relief. I also participated in a Monroe Institute retreat on OOBEs.

What is so exceptionably special about Dr. Wiebers’ "Theory of Reality" is that it finally ties these and all other phenomena into a coherent whole with language easily understood by the general public. Dr. Wiebers' authorship demonstrably lends concrete credibility to NDEs, OOBEs, etc. because he is a hardnosed scientist. I wish I also had his book 30 years ago because it contains many proven ways to live a more enlightened and less stressful life even in the face of death.

Additionally, I salute Dr. Wiebers’ chairing the Humane Society Legislative Fund’s board of directors and for his efforts to explain that animals are of the same fundamental essence as humans. His book states "our tendency to fragment our world and see ourselves as separate from…other humans and nonhuman beings is at the root of our neither being at peace as a species nor as a society."

Great resource

This rudiment dictionary is perfect for any percussionist, from beginner to educator to professional performer. It includes all of the rudiments as well as some exercises that use them. My only complaint would be the odd shape of this book. It's very tall and thin, which makes it a little harder to keep track of. I feel like it should either be full size like the rest of the books one would carry, or pocket size so it could fit into your instrument case or pocket. Other than the awkward shape, this book is an excellent resource!

If he weren't such a good action writer, Rollins might make a dynamite climatologist. Just the right amount of sand...

I totally dislike sand. It’s gritty and grimy. When the wind blows sand all about it gets in your hair, eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. The only good place for sand is on a beach. I wasn’t sure I wanted to read a book titled “SANDSTORM” with depictions of sand, sand, and more sand being blown all about somewhere in the sandy Middle East.

However, the fact of the matter was I got hooked with bizarre thoughts of a plot involving antimatter—especially since I read a wee bit of antimatter can make a big bang.

James did a good job of telling a compelling story. He didn’t over do the sand and storm parts, but used it rather nicely as a timely part of the plot. His balance of science was just about right. He did a masterful job of blending the here and now of modern day with an ancient time eons ago when Mother Earth was much younger. I especially liked the look behind the scenes provided by his Author’s Notes when he separates fact from fiction.

Great first Sigma Force novel.
Mr. Rollins has a great gift; Utilizing his narrative talent, he combines scientific fact, history, and adventure into amazing stories.
His books are like a combination of Indiana Jones, Dan Brown, Michael Crichton, and Clive Cussler...on steroids!

Once I get in to the meat of the adventure, I cannot put it down.
While the characters may not be the most three-dimensional, they all work!

I loved the concept behind this first Sigma Force Novel.
Buried forbidden cites, evil coalitions, potential catastrophic cataclysmic events, religious history..it really DOES NOT get any better than this!
